Pokémon Ultra Sun is a 2017 role-playing developed by Game Freak and published by The Pokémon Company for the Nintendo 3DS. It is one half of a pair of games, the other being Pokémon Ultra Moon; they are updated versions of Pokémon Sun and Moon, and together make up the second pair of main series games in the seventh generation of Pokémon. The game was played by The D-Pad in 2017; unlike previous Pokémon playthroughs on the channel, it is not part of Pokémon Rivals or even a Nuzlocke, due to the channel having already spent a year playing the original Sun and Moon in this format. The playthrough commenced on November 20, 2017.

Ben starts off the game by naming his character Trindle and watching the opening cutscenes. Once he has control of the game, he leaves his house and heads down Route 1, where he runs into a wild Yungoos and is defended by the three starter Pokémon. Professor Kukui appears and allows him to pick a starter; he chooses Popplio, and names it Bwump. He continues along Route 1, fighting a wild Yungoos, picking up an item, and eventually encountering Hau, who picks Litten as his starter and challenges him to a battle. He defeats Hau easily, watches some more cutscenes, and heads towards Iki Town. |
