Pokémon Ultra Sun is a 2017 role-playing developed by Game Freak and published by The Pokémon Company for the Nintendo 3DS. It is one half of a pair of games, the other being Pokémon Ultra Moon; they are updated versions of Pokémon Sun and Moon, and together make up the second pair of main series games in the seventh generation of Pokémon. The game was played by The D-Pad in 2017; unlike previous Pokémon playthroughs on the channel, it is not part of Pokémon Rivals or even a Nuzlocke, due to the channel having already spent a year playing the original Sun and Moon in this format. The playthrough commenced on November 20, 2017.

Ben starts off the game by naming his character Trindle and watching the opening cutscenes. Once he has control of the game, he leaves his house and heads down Route 1, where he runs into a wild Yungoos and is defended by the three starter Pokémon. Professor Kukui appears and allows him to pick a starter; he chooses Popplio, and names it Bwump. He continues along Route 1, fighting a wild Yungoos, picking up an item, and eventually encountering Hau, who picks Litten as his starter and challenges him to a battle. He defeats Hau easily, watches some more cutscenes, and heads towards Iki Town.
2"I'm Really Good at Fighting Babies"17:53BenRick, John, Lindsay22 November 2017 (2017-11-22)
Ben reaches Iki Town, explores a little, then leaves and heads up the Mahalo Trail, where he finds Lillie and Nebby, who is being attacked by wild Spearow. He fights and defeats one of them, then heads to the middle of the bridge, which collapses. After being saved by Tapu Koko, they all return to Iki Town. There, he is given a Pokédex and a Trainer Passport. He is returned to his house, where Kukui appears and leads him outside to give him the Pokémon catching tutorial, much to the group's annoyance. After this, Ben receives some Poké Balls, and catches a Grubbin in the tall grass; he nicknames it Stuggy Mack.
3"Electric Magoobaloo"22:02BenRick, John, Lindsay, Sarah22 November 2017 (2017-11-22)
Ben runs across a wild Buneary and catches it, naming it Magoompers. He continues to explore Route 1, fighting a few low-level trainers along the way. He finds a Rockruff standing around, and plays with it for a while before moving on. He runs into a pair of mysterious characters, and the group theorize on the logic behind releasing Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. He also catches a wild Yungoos and names it Goo Father. Arriving back at Iki Town, he battles against Hau for a second time as part of the festival, again defeating him without much trouble. Afterwards, Hala gives him the Z-Power Ring, and some more cutscenes ensue, after which Ben ends up back at his character's house.
4"Five Nights at Macaulay Culkin's"15:48BenRick, John, Lindsay, Sarah23 November 2017 (2017-11-23)
Ben heads to a previously unexplored part of Route 1 south of his house, leading towards Kukui's lab. In the grass nearby he catches an Inkay and names it Peebles. He continues to battle trainers and wild Pokémon in the area, while the rest of the group discuss random encounter rates and Christmas movies, which leads into an odd conversation about Macaulay Culkin. During this, Ben makes use of the post-battle Pokémon Refresh feature for the first time.
5"It's Just a Cloud"18:26BenRick, John, Lindsay, Sarah24 November 2017 (2017-11-24)
Ben enters Kukui's lab and receives his Rotom Pokédex, although he becomes frustrated at how much time the game devotes to explaining how it works. Outside, a brief solar eclipse occurs. Ben continues fighting Pokémon in the wild grass, and eventually heads back to his house to heal. He then moves on to the Pokémon Center, and another lengthy explanation of game mechanics, before going to the Trainer's School. There, he is tasked with fighting four different trainers; he finds the first of them and defeats her.
6"He's Got Stilt Skin"17:57BenRick, John, Lindsay6 December 2017 (2017-12-06)
Ben continues to fight in the Trainer's School, while the rest of the group discuss nicknames for pets and Pokémon. Ben catches a wild Alolan Meowth, and names it Punted. He heads inside, receives a Quick Claw from an NPC, and fights another of the trainers, then goes back outside to face the last of the four. After defeating him, he is rewarded with a TM for Work Up. He is then told to go speak to the teacher next, but heads back to the Pokémon Center to heal first.

Ben goes to the upper floor of the Trainer's School and battles against the teacher. She has a single Rowlet which manages to knock out three of Ben's Pokémon before he can defeat it. Afterwards, he views some more cutscenes then goes back to the Pokémon Center to heal again. He returns to the area outside the school, where the Tauros finally stops blocking the path, allowing him to progress to Hau'oli City.
8"All Dunka, No Roo"19:30BenRick, John, Lindsay8 December 2017 (2017-12-08)
Ben enters Hau'oli City, where his Rotom Dex is upgraded with the Poké Finder, allowing him to take pictures. He heads to a picture spot and takes some photos of a Pikachu. In the grass nearby, he catches a wild Furfrou, naming it Umpinder. He adds it to the team, sending Punted to the box. He fights a few more wild Pokémon before heading back to the streets and talking to Lillie, who gives him a Lens Case and a Makeup Bag. With directions from Lindsay, he buys some clothes from the shop, then gets a haircut.
9"There Will Be No Survivors"17:53Ben, LindsayRick, John16 December 2017 (2017-12-16)
After fighting another wild battle in the grass, Ben heads to the Pokémon Center, where Ilima introduces him to Totem Stickers. He collects a few around the city, then fights a Team Skull Grunt in a battle. Lindsay briefly takes over while Ben goes to the toilet, defeating the Grunt. Immediately afterwards, Ilima challenges her to a battle. Against his Smeargle, Lindsay's playstyle begins to frustrate Rick and John, as she loses half of her team in the fight. Eventually, she defeats it, then promises the stop playing.
