Green Hill Zone is the first Zone in both Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis and its 8-bit counterparts. Frequently used as an early stage in various Sonic titles, the layout of its stages is usually intended to introduce the player to the game's mechanics, and offers a relatively low difficulty so as to ease the player into the game experience.
