The Heartless Let's Play is a Franchise Play created by The D-Pad in 2015, focusing on the Kingdom Hearts franchise. The series debuted on December 12, 2015 as a single Let's Play of the original Kingdom Hearts, which won a Patreon poll to occupy what was then the channel's "third slot". Upon its conclusion, Rick indicated an intention to expand the scope of the project to the entire franchise. After a long hiatus, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories was played as a series of livestreams on Twitch in 2018. With the debut of the Kingdom Hearts II LP on January 26, 2019, the series was officially announced as a full Franchise Play, with its title and logo revealed.
