Tecmo Super Bowl is a 1991 sports game developed and published by Tecmo for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Based on the National Football League, it is a sequel to the 1989 NES port of the 1987 arcade game Tecmo Bowl, and is notable for being the first NES game to use the names and stats of real NFL teams and players, due to a licensing agreement with the NFL. Tecmo Super Bowl gained a cult following that continued long after it became outdated, and to this day a modified fan-made ROM is released every year at the start of the season, with rosters updated to be accurate to the current state of the NFL. The 2011-2012 edition of Tecmo Super Bowl was played by The D-Pad in 2012, in a feature known as Let's Predict Super Bowl XLVI. The series simulated the upcoming Super Bowl XLVI by staging an AI vs. AI match with the competing teams and players, in an attempt to predict the result of the game. The series consisted of 2 episodes; the first half was released on January 29, 2012, and the second half on February 5, 2012.

Tecmo Super Bowl is a 1991 sports game developed and published by Tecmo for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Based on the National Football League, it is a sequel to the 1989 NES port of the 1987 arcade game Tecmo Bowl, and is notable for being the first video game to use the names and stats of real NFL teams and players, due to a licensing agreement with the NFL. Tecmo Super Bowl gained a cult following that continued long after it became outdated, and to this day a modified fan-made ROM is released every year at the start of the season, with rosters updated to be accurate to the current state of the NFL. These ROMs have been played on The D-Pad since 2012, in an annual feature on the channel called Let's Predict the Super Bowl. The series, usually released the day of the Super Bowl, simulates the upcoming game by staging an AI vs. AI match with the competing teams and players, in an attempt to predict the final outcome. The series began on January 30, 2012 with Let's Predict Super Bowl XLVI, and the most recent installment, Let's Predict Super Bowl LVIII, was released on February 11, 2024.

Let's Predict the Super Bowl went on to become an annual feature on the channel. In 2013, the 2012-2013 edition of the game was played as Let's Predict Super Bowl XLVII. Again, this series consisted of 2 episodes; both halves were released on February 3, 2013.

The third installment in the series, Let's Predict Super Bowl XLVIII, was released in 2014, this time using the 2013-2014 edition of the game. Unlike the previous two editions, this one consisted of only 1 episode; this would become the norm for all future installments of Let's Predict the Super Bowl. It was released on February 2, 2014.

In 2015, the channel released the fourth installment in the series, Let's Predict Super Bowl XLIX, using the 2014-2015 edition of the game. The episode was released on February 1, 2015.

In 2016, no episode of Let's Predict the Super Bowl was released in time for the Super Bowl. However, Let's Predict Super Bowl 50, using the 2015-2016 edition of the game was ultimately recorded and released two months later, despite the game itself having already been played, as part of a series of videos celebrating the fifth anniversary of The D-Pad. The episode was released on April 4, 2016.

In 2017, the channel released the sixth installment in the series, Let's Predict Super Bowl LI, using the 2016-2017 edition of the game. The episode was released on February 5, 2017.

In 2018, the channel released the seventh installment in the series, Let's Predict Super Bowl LII, using the 2017-2018 edition of the game. The episode was released on February 4, 2018.

Game record

The following is a list of all games predicted over the course of the series, with the winning team of the actual game highlighted. The two scores following each team are their predicted score and actual score, respectively. Seven of the thirteen games simulated thus far have correctly predicted the winning team.
