  |ShortSummary = In a live-action intro, Rick convinced John that ''X8'' is an improvement over the previous entries in the series, explaining the game's plot and gameplay changes from ''[[Mega Man X7|X7]]''. In the game itself, John starts up a new file and watches the opening cutscene. He then is sent straight to Noah's Park, the intro stage to the game. Controlling X and Axl, with a tag-team option to switch between them, John plays through the stage and defeats a miniboss, after which X leaves. Left with only Axl to play as, John dies a few times in the latter area of the stage, blaming the unresponsive controller for his performance. Rick tries it out and similarly dies, resulting in a game over. As they had not created a save file yet, they are sent back to the title screen.
