As the winner of the previous Padlocke, Brilliant Diamond vs. Shining Pearl, Rick began with HeartGold on November 18, 2024, and will be followed by John with SoulSilver once Rick has completed the first leg. Faceoff record
The following is a list of the results of Rick and John's faceoffs throughout the series. The scores listed for each player refer to the number of Pokémon that have not fainted by the end of the battle. Due to Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl's competitive battle mechanics, all levels were capped at 50 for the later faceoffs. Rick became the overall winner after defeating John in the seventh faceoff. Ultimately, Rick won 7 battles, and John won 2.
