Super Mario Kart is a 1992 racing game developed by Nintendo EAD and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It is part of the Mario franchise, and the first entry in the Mario Kart series. The game was played by The D-Pad in 2012, as part of a series known as Putting Our Guests to the Test, where various guests on the podcast would record their times on the Mario Circuit 2 track, in the vein of the "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car" segment from Top Gear. The series began with hosts Rick and Bebel setting their times on the track, but only one guest - Sara Gouveia, in her first and only appearance on the channel - would go on to record a time; the series was abandoned after this. The series consisted of 3 episodes; it began on April 18, 2012, and concluded on April 29, 2012.

In 2017, the game was revisited on the channel, as the eighth game in D-Pad Classics. A one-off episode was released on October 12, 2017.

Trivia

  • In Putting Our Guests to the Test, all episodes were artificially extended in length to three minutes so as to obscure what time the player actually got.
