This page is about the 1998 Game.com game. For the 2019 remake, see Resident Evil 2 (2019).

Resident Evil 2 is a 1998 survival horror game developed and published by Tiger Electronics for the Game.com. It is a sprite-based 2.5D port of the PlayStation game Resident Evil 2. Due to limits of the Game.com, almost all content from the original game is removed. Only Leon Kennedy's story is playable, and in a greatly reduced and drastically altered form. The game was played on The C-Pad in a one-off episode in 2019, as the second game in Let's Play Dead. The episode was released on April 1, 2019.

Trivia

  • The LP of Resident Evil 2 for the Game.com was released as an April Fool's Day special, with a misleading title and thumbnail falsely claiming to be the premiere of the 2019 remake of Resident Evil 2. Additionally, the first minute of the video used footage from the remake before abruptly switching to the Game.com version. It is the second Game.com title to be used as a bait-and-switch in this manner, after Sonic Jam. Ultimately, the LP of the Resident Evil 2 remake would not begin until May 22, 2019, nearly two months later.
  • Resident Evil 2 for the Game.com is one of only two LPs in Let's Play Dead not to include a live-action intro, along with Resident Evil Resistance.
