Super Mario Kart is a 1992 racing game developed by Nintendo EAD and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and the first entry in the Mario Kart sub-series of the Mario franchise. The game was featured on the channel in 2012 for Putting Our Guests to the Test, a short-lived former series on The D-Pad where various guests on the podcast would record their times on Mario Circuit 2. A total of 3 episodes were released. Five years later, the game was once again played on the channel, this time using the Super NES Classic Edition re-release, as the eighth game in the D-Pad Classics series. A single episode was released on October 12, 2017.

Rick and John, who have been randomly picking the SNES Classic games, are surprised to have Super Mario Kart come up immediately after F-Zero. They face off against each other in a 50cc Mushroom Cup Grand Prix. Due to the easy difficulty, both players finish well ahead of the enemy AI in every race; Rick wins the first three without many problems. The fourth race, on the Bowser's Castle track, is won by John after Rick is spun awkwardly by hitting a green shell. Believing it to be over, the two are surprised to realize that the Grand Prix in Super Mario Kart contains five races - the final race is narrowly won by Rick, giving him the overall victory.
