A Brief History is a video essay series created by The D-Pad in 2015. Originally designed as a means to highlight the formative years of various game development companies at the start of their respective Franchise Plays (such as Capcom, HAL Laboratory, and SEGA), it would eventually branch out into covering less massive companies, as well as delving into more involved topics such as the background of specific video games or media. As of June 25, 2018, 9 episodes have been released.
