After skipping the intro sequence, Ben begins the game by naming his character "Yimbert" and entering Bowser's Castle. After easily defeating all the enemies within and fighting Bowser himself, he is launched out of the castle by the impact of a giant sword falling into it. He lands at "Mario's Pad", where he meets Toad. Several cutscenes ensue, and eventually he has control of Mario again, fighting a number of enemies in Mushroom Way, while learning the game's battle system. Eventually, he reaches the end of the area, and a boss fight against two Hammer Bros. He defeats them and moves on to the next area.
