Sonic the Hedgehog (not to be confused with the 8-bit version or the 2006 game of the same name is a 1991 platform game developed by Sonic Team and published by SEGA. It is the first game in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, and the first game ever played by The D-Pad. It has been played a total of three times on the channel - the first of these playthroughs was in 2011, as the first game of Sonic Week, with the group playing the original Genesis version. It was revisited in 2014 for D-Pad Rivals as a race between Rick and C/J, with C/J playing the Xbox 360 version, and Rick playing the Wii version. The third and final playthrough of the game was in 2016, with the Genesis version being played once again, as the first proper game in The Super Sonic Let's Play.
