Mega Man: The Wily Wars is a 1994 action-platform game developed by Minakuchi Engineering and published by Capcom for the Sega Genesis. It is the first Mega Man game for a Sega console, a sequel to Minakuchi's series of Mega Man games on the Game Boy, and a remake of the Nintendo Entertainment System games Mega Man, Mega Man 2, and Mega Man 3. The plot follows Mega Man as he battles against Dr. Wily, who has traveled back in time to their first three conflicts in an attempt to change their outcome. After completing all three games, an exclusive new mode named Wily Tower is unlocked, containing three new Robot Masters and a new castle area. The game was played on The D-Pad in 2015, as the seventeenth weekday game and nineteenth game overall in The Mega Let's Play. The LP consisted of 31 episodes, released on weekdays from September 28 to October 27, 2015. The LP's live-action outro, delayed from its originally-intended inclusion in the final episode, was released as a separate video named "The Legend of Internet Personality Ben Mooney" on November 28, 2015.

Mega Man: The Wily Wars is one of the forty-two games included in the Sega Genesis Mini dedicated console. This version of the game was played on The D-Pad in a one-off episode in 2019, as the fourth game in their Sega Genesis Mini series. The episode was released on November 7, 2019.

Trivia

  • The Wily Tower section was mistakenly recorded out of order. The tower itself was played before the three individual stages usually required to unlock it due to a cheat code (used for the purposes of resolving a bug in which the Wily Tower segment was not playable at all) not working as expected. Episodes 26 through 28, covering these three stages, were released before episodes 29 through 31 despite their being recorded afterwards. This mishap was ultimately incorporated into the metaplot, in which Rick sends Ben back in time to ensure the game is played in the correct order, as seen in "The Legend of Internet Personality Ben Mooney".
