The partner in crime, and second in command, John can be found in almost every series on the channel. His unique style of dark humor and envelope pushing jokes (as seen in his famous "chocolate milk" story and an episode titled "Barnes and Chernobyl") are always the subject of interesting discourse and commentary. No topic is too sacred for John to discuss. Regardless, John is committed to putting the viewers interests first, pushing for shortcuts and save states in order to keep the thousands of episodes tolerable to watch. | The partner in crime, and second in command, John can be found in almost every series on the channel. First appearing in an episode of Windwaker HD in November of 2013, Ben has become the number three spot, eclipsing the rest of this list on number of appearances. While his Megaman skills leave something to be desired, Ben is an avid Melee and Dark Souls player, and is a proficient artist with pen and ink. Ben's biggest role in the Mega Let's Play is his role as "Evil Ben", a villainous one-eyed counterpart who forces Rick and John to play all the terrible titles in the series. Latest revision as of 19:20, 2 August 2021
There are currently 13 members of the D-Pad (11 human, 2 cats). The only qualifications to be a member as noted on this list is to make regular on-mic appearances in videos.
The founding members of the D-Pad are Rick Desilets, John Selig, Nick Bebel, and C/J Haley.
Rick Desilets
The almighty founder, main workhorse, and editor of the D-pad. Rick's keen attention to detail and completionist attitude keep the production quality of the channel at a high level, and his burning passion for the project puts down game after game, even at the risk of his own sanity. Rick will go the extra mile for the channel whenever possible, providing research on the development, hardware, and music of all the games that come up on the schedule. He also makes an effort to complete every game, whether its unplayable, borderline unplayable, generally un-fun, on an obscure and expensive antique console, in Mandarin, in Japanese, or with no legible text whatsoever. Rick is the only member of the D-Pad to appear in every video, with the notable exception of the "Empty Video Game Nerd" series, and the 999th video on the channel, "The B-Pad".
John Selig
The partner in crime, and second in command, John can be found in almost every series on the channel. His unique style of dark humor and envelope pushing jokes (as seen in his famous "chocolate milk" story and an episode titled "Barnes and Chernobyl") are always the subject of interesting discourse and commentary. No topic is too sacred for John to discuss. Regardless, John is committed to putting the viewers interests first, pushing for shortcuts and save states in order to keep the thousands of episodes tolerable to watch.
Ben Mooney
First appearing in an episode of Windwaker HD in November of 2013, Ben has become the number three spot, eclipsing the rest of this list on number of appearances. While his Megaman skills leave something to be desired, Ben is an avid Melee and Dark Souls player, and is a proficient artist with pen and ink. Ben's biggest role in the Mega Let's Play is his role as "Evil Ben", a villainous one-eyed counterpart who forces Rick and John to play all the terrible titles in the series. Ben's witty commentary makes him a valuable backseater, even if he doesn't play much. The sound of his infectious laughter punctuates some of the most comedic moments on the channel.
Sarah Fischer
Intelligent and observant as Rick, Sarah appears more frequently on the channel as time goes on. She manages to figure out cryptic game logic very quickly, although she does not play very often.
C/J Haley
An original member of the group since its inception, C/J was integral to the completion of the Legendary Let’s Play. Since then, he has appeared much less on the channel, showing up mostly for wrestling games and Resident Evil. Whether he’s singing loudly into the mic, spoiling future D-Pad events, or speed-running Links Awakening in a blisteringly fast 6:34:36, when C/J's on, "It's The C-Pad".
Felice Lopez
Long time partner of C/J, Felice appears most often in the Resident Evil series. Always cheery and high energy, they provide a different dynamic than what viewers are used to.
Lindsay Gibbons
A woman of many names, Lindsay (also known as Wendy, Linda, Wednesday, Lindor, or Goblin depending on the episode) is a recent addition to the D-Pad roster. She has quickly solidified herself as a core member of the channel and has become a new fan-favorite with her energetic commentary and unique sense of humor. Quirks aside, she has great chemistry with the rest of the members and rounds out the core group.
Ashley Hoey
Ben's coworker is a somewhat recent addition to the D-Pad. Her energetic commentary has added spice to some of the more awful games that the channel has had to endure lately. She was made an official member of the D-Pad by Rick on one of the January 2018 episodes and looks to be another long time "drop-in" member like C/J and Felice.
Dustin Deren
Widely regarded as the fan favorite, Dustin is the short-tempered and overly sarcastic uncle of the D-pad, also known as the “Empty Video Game Nerd”. His scathing remarks and self-deprecative comments have endeared him to fans, although his appearances on the show lately have been scarce. His furious anger crushes even the worst of games.
Ian Selig
The younger brother of John, Ian is too busy sailing the seven seas to appear frequently on the channel. However, he does hold a channel record for beating A Link To The Past in 5 minutes. His face has been immortalized as one of the D-Pad Discord's most popular emojis.
Goji
A veteran member of the D-Pad, Goji has always been just off mic, clawing into John's skin . She is a very discerning cat, very particular about who pets her and where. She has also been immortalized in the Discord as :gojimoji:
Tonka
Tonka most often appears in episodes by getting tangled in the wires that record and power the D-Pad's setup. She has caused a few incidents, but makes up for it with sweetness.
