In a live-action intro, Rick convinced John that X8 is an improvement over the previous entries in the series, explaining the game's plot and gameplay changes from X7. In the game itself, John starts up a new file and watches the opening cutscene. He then is sent straight to Noah's Park, the intro stage to the game. Controlling X and Axl, with a tag-team option to switch between them, John plays through the stage and defeats a miniboss, after which X leaves. Left with only Axl to play as, John dies a few times in the latter area of the stage, blaming the unresponsive controller for his performance. Rick tries it out and similarly dies, resulting in a game over. As they had not created a save file yet, they are sent back to the title screen. |
