Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a 2020 hack and slash game developed by Koei Tecmo and Omega Force and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It is a spin-off in the Legend of Zelda franchise, inspired by Koei's Dynasty Warriors series, and a sequel to the 2014 game Hyrule Warriors. The game's plot, set 100 years before The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, depicts in full the "Great Calamity" mentioned in that game. The game was covered on The D-Pad before its release, in an episode of The D-Pad Reacts focusing on its announcement trailer. The episode was released on September 8, 2020. The game is currently planned to be played in full on the channel upon its release, as part of The Legendary Let's Play.

Trivia

  • Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity was announced unexpectedly only two months prior to its release. At the time, The Legendary Let's Play was nearing completion after over seven years, with only the three Philips CD-i games left to be completed. Following its completion, the Franchise Play was planned to go on hiatus until the next Legend of Zelda game, but the Age of Calamity announcement ensured that it would continue almost immediately.
