The Joystick is a sub-section of The D-Pad consisting of projects created by John Selig, and his other friends in California. The idea of a John-centric channel akin to The C-Pad had been a running joke for several years before it became official, much like The C-Pad itself. The Joystick was eventually created out of necessity when John moved to California, enabling him to record videos separately from Rick and the rest of the team on the East Coast, such as his half of the Pokémon Rivals Nuzlockes. For this reason, The Joystick is sometimes informally referred to as D-Pad West. The first episode including The Joystick branding was the eleventh episode of Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu!, released on December 20, 2018.
