Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! is a 2018 role-playing game developed by Game Freak and published by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It is part of the seventh generation of the Pokémon franchise, and one half of a pair of games with Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee!. The two games are remakes of the 1999 game Pokémon Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition. The game was played by John on The D-Pad in 2018, as one half of the fifth installment of Pokémon Rivals, with Rick playing Let's Go, Eevee!. Due to the differences between Let's Go and the rest of the Pokémon series, a somewhat modified version of the normal Padlocke rules was used. Some episodes were recorded separately by John at his home in California, as part of The Joystick. The LP began on November 19, 2018.

Trivia

  • The Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! LP marked the first appearance of Cat Arthur on the channel, as well as the first appearance of Nick Bebel on the channel in over three years.
  • Episode 23 was the first solo-commentary Pokémon video to be recorded in over six years, the last being episode 75 of Pokémon FireRed Version on February 23, 2013. It was also the first video to feature John on solo commentary.

Notes

  1. In this episode, C/J and Dustin appear only in archive footage of the Pokémon Insurgence LP.
  2. John forgot to nickname this Pokémon upon obtaining it, eventually giving it the name Ländshrew in episode 23.
  3. In this episode, Rick, Meg, Ben, and Lindsay appear only in archive footage of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe LP.
  4. In a Pokémon Rivals first, John inadvertently caused the first "death" of the run by accidentally sending his Pidgey, Hræsvelgr, to Professor Oak in exchange for candy. Both he and Dave failed to notice.
  5. John forgot to nickname this Pokémon upon obtaining it, eventually giving it the name Bâldr in episode 24.
  6. John did not realize this Pokémon was his valid catch for Route 24, and thus did not give it a nickname.
