Ben names the four main characters Mort, Gont, Loob and Stirp, the dog Dog, and his favorite food and thing Egg. He starts the proper game by exploring his house, finding a cracked bat, and then leaving to investigate the meteor. Along the way, the group talk about EarthBound and its unsettling nature. He reaches the meteor, but is turned away by the police and sent back home. Later on, he returns there with a team consisting of Mort, Pokey, and Dog, in order to find Pokey's brother Picky. He faces a few random battles along the way, and eventually gets back to the top of the hill, where Picky and Buzz Buzz join the party. Making their way back home, the party is attacked by a boss, Starman Alpha, which they defeat. Ben takes Pokey and Picky back to their house, where they leave the party and Buzz Buzz is killed by their mother. Upon leaving the house, he meets the traveling photographer, and the group decide they've played enough of the game.
