Mega Man X is a 1994 action-platform game developed and published by Capcom for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It is part of the Mega Man franchise, and the first game in the Mega Man X series. Set a century after the events of the classic Mega Man games, the plot follows the titular Mega Man X, a robot with free will and the final creation of Dr. Light, and his partner Zero, as they battle against Mavericks, robots infected with a virus that makes them dangerous, led by the villainous Sigma. The game follows the same structure as the classic series, with eight bosses to fight, each granting X their weapon after defeating them, before unlocking a final series of levels. However, the gameplay is significantly changed, with X having the ability to dash, climb walls, and increase his capabilities even further by finding upgrades left for him by Dr. Light decades prior. The game was played on The D-Pad in 2015, as the thirteenth weekday game and fifteenth game overall in The Mega Let's Play, and the second game in D-Pad Rivals. The LP consisted of 11 episodes; 10 covering the main LP and an extended bonus episode featuring a race between Rick and John, released on weekdays from June 27 to July 10, 2015.

Mega Man X is one of the twenty-one games included in the Super NES Classic Edition dedicated console. This version of the game was played on The D-Pad in a one-off episode in 2017, as the fourteenth game in their Super NES Classic Edition series. The episode was released on October 20, 2017.
