It is the sixth game in the Wonder Boy franchise, and the fourth in the Monster World series. A remastered port was released for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 in 2022 as part of Wonder Boy Collection. Monster World IV is one of the forty-two games included in the Sega Genesis Mini dedicated console. This version of the game was played on The D-Pad in a one-off episode in 2019, as the thirty-ninth game in their Sega Genesis Mini series. The episode was released on December 26, 2019.
