Super Mario Galaxy is a 2007 platform game developed by Nintendo EAD Tokyo and published by Nintendo for the Wii. It is part of the Super Mario series within the larger Mario franchise, and is the third 3D platformer in the series, following Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. Set in outer space, the game introduces new characters Rosalina and the Lumas, and incorporates new gameplay mechanics based around the gravity of the numerous minor planets Mario travels between. The game was played on The D-Pad in 2019, with Rick attempting a 100% speedrun of the game in 24 hours for Extra Life 2019. Originally streamed live on the dpadfm Twitch account on November 2, 2019, the attempt was later edited into three large episodes and uploaded to YouTube on December 25, 2019.
The game was revisited on The D-Pad in a one-off episode in 2022, as the ninth event in The IInd Games, representing the sport of speed skating. The episode was released on February 17, 2022.
