Battletoads is a 1991 beat 'em up game developed by Rare and published by Tradewest for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Players control Rash and Zitz, two members of a trio of humanoid toads known as the Battletoads, as they attempt to rescue the Princess Angelica and their third member, Pimple, from the evil Dark Queen. The game supports both one- and two-player modes. Since its release, it has become notorious as one of the most difficult games of all times. The game was played on The D-Pad in a one-off Valentine's Day special episode in 2019. The episode was streamed live by Rick and Sarah on the dpadfm Twitch account before being posted to YouTube on February 15, 2019.

The game was revisited on The D-Pad in a one-off episode in 2024, as the fourth game in The D-Pad 13th Anniversary Marathon Stream. The episode was streamed live simultaneously on the dpadfm Twitch account and the YouTube channel before being uploaded on April 4, 2024.
