Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is a 1995 platform game developed by Nintendo EAD and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It is part of the Mario franchise. While branded as a sequel to the 1991 game Super Mario World, the game is in fact a prequel to the entire Mario franchise, featuring Baby Mario and starring Yoshi as the playable character. The gameplay is significantly different from its predecessor due to this, with Yoshi having a different control scheme based on hovering, ground-pounding, and acquiring eggs which can be fired at enemies. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is one of the twenty-one games included in the Super NES Classic Edition dedicated console. This version of the game was played on The D-Pad in a one-off episode in 2017, as the nineteenth game in their Super NES Classic Edition series. The episode was released on October 27, 2017.

The game was revisited on The D-Pad in a one-off episode in 2022, as the fifth event in The IInd Games, representing the sport of Nordic combined. The episode was released on February 13, 2022.
