Mega Man is a 1994 animated television series directed by Katsumi Minoguchi and co-produced by Ruby-Spears Productions and Ashi Productions. It is the first full television series based on the Mega Man franchise, specifically the first five entries in the original series of games released for the Nintendo Entertainment System, though one episode incorporates elements from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System game Mega Man X. It loosely follows the same plot as the games, with the "super fighting robot" Mega Man battling against the evil Dr. Wily and his Robot Masters, with the help of his creator Dr. Light, his sister Roll, and his robotic dog Rush. The series aired in first-run syndication, running for 27 episodes across two seasons from September 1994 to January 1996. A third season was planned, but the series was cancelled before it could be produced.
The series was covered on The D-Pad in 2015, as part of The Mega Let's Play. A Seriesly episode covering the first season was released on September 18, 2015, followed by another episode covering the second season on December 18, 2015. A D-Pad + Chill episode covering the original pitch video for the series was released on August 31, 2020 in tribute to Ruby-Spears co-founder Joe Ruby, who had died several days earlier.
