Splatoon is a 2015 third-person shooter game developed by Nintendo EAD and published by Nintendo for the Wii U. It is the first entry in the Splatoon franchise. Players control Inklings, beings that can transform between human-like and squid-like forms, as they engage in turn wars and fire color-coded ink at each other. Both a single-player campaign and online multiplayer modes are available. The game was played on The D-Pad in a one-off episode upon its release, as the channel's first livestream. The episode was streamed live on the dpadfm Twitch account before being uploaded to YouTube on May 29, 2015.

The game was revisited on The D-Pad in 2024, as the twenty-sixth and final game in The Ultimate Wii U. The LP began on December 24, 2024.

Trivia

• The four-hour "episode 0" of the 2024 Splatoon LP was livestreamed on the dpadfm Twitch account in April 2024, before being uploaded to YouTube eight months later, after the rest of the games in The Ultimate Wii U had been recorded and uploaded. It consists of Rick exploring the game's online multiplayer mode for the final time before the Wii U servers were shut down.
