Super Mario Bros. 2 is a 1988 platform game developed by Nintendo R&D4 and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It is part of the Super Mario series in the Mario franchise. Created as a reskin of Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic, it functions as the sequel to Super Mario Bros. outside of Japan, replacing the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2, later released internationally as Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, which was deemed too challenging for a worldwide release. The NES Classic Edition re-release of the game was played by The D-Pad in 2018, as the twenty-fifth game in the series of the same name. The LP consisted of a single episode; it was released on December 29, 2018.
