Shining in the Darkness is a 1991 role-playing game developed by Climax Entertainment and Sonic! Software Planning and published by Sega for the Sega Genesis. It is the first game in the Shining series. The player controls a trio of heroes attempting to defeat the evil sorcerer Dark Sol. It is one of the sixty games included in the Sega Genesis Mini 2 dedicated console. This version of the game was played on The D-Pad in a one-off episode in 2022, as the fifty-first game in their Sega Genesis Mini 2 series. The episode was released on December 18, 2022.
