Pokémon Blue Version is a 1998 role-playing game developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy. It is part of the first generation of the Pokémon franchise, and one half of a pair of games with Pokémon Red Version. The two games are the first entries in the series, introducing the initial 151 Pokémon, the Kanto region, and now-standard elements of the formula such as the Pokémon League system with eight gyms, a Professor, a rival, a villainous team, and more. The game was played on The D-Pad by Rick in 2025 under the name of Pokémon: The Very Best, as part of a self-imposed challenge to train a Rattata to level 100 before leaving the first route. Episodes were streamed live on the dpadfm Twitch account before being uploaded to YouTube. The LP began on March 21, 2025.
