Dragon Quest is a 1989 role-playing game developed by Chunsoft and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It is the first game in the Dragon Quest franchise. A 16-bit remake was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993 as part of Dragon Quest I + II. The player controls a nameless hero who attempts to defeat the Dragonlord to save the kingdom of Alefgard and its princess. The SNES version of the game was played on The D-Pad in a one-off episode by Rick in 2024, in tribute to the game's character designer, Akira Toriyama. The episode was streamed on YouTube and the dpadfm Twitch account before being uploaded on March 12, 2024.
