  |ShortSummary = In a live-action intro, Rick and John explore the history of SNK from 1990 to 2000 to give context to the development of ''Sonic Pocket Adventure'', before talking about the game itself, notably its odd combination of elements from multiple classic-era ''Sonic'' games. In the actual game, John begins and plays through the first act of Neo South Island Zone. He picks up 50 rings along the way and enters a giant ring at the end, which leads to a ''Sonic 2''-style special stage. He completes it to obtain a Chaos Emerald. John then beats the second act, destroying an Aquatic Ruin-esque boss at the end of it. He moves on to Secret Plane Zone, clearing the first act and entering another special stage, but failing to get enough rings in the final section. John reaches the end of the second act and loses all of his rings early on the boss fight, but is still able to narrowly defeat it.

Sonic the Hedgehog Pocket Adventure is a 1999 platform game developed by SNK and published by SNK and Sega for the Neo Geo Pocket Color. It is the first 2D Sonic the Hedgehog game to be release after Sonic Adventure, though it takes greater inspiration from the Sega Genesis Sonic games, particularly Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
