Sonic Forces is a 2017 platform game developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It is part of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, and a partial sequel to Sonic Mania, released earlier in the same year. The gameplay, reminiscent of Sonic Generations, allows for the player to control both "classic" and "modern" versions of Sonic, with the former's stages inspired by the 2D games, and the latter's by the 3D games. A third, unnamed character only referred to as the "Avatar", is customizable by the player, and has a unique playstyle inspired by the use of various tools and weapons. The plot, primarily set six months after the world was conquered by a group of villains led by Eggman and the mysterious Infinite, follows Sonic and his allies as they lead a resistance against Eggman. A DLC pack named "Episode Shadow", released the same day as the game, serves as a short prequel to the story, with the player controlling Shadow the Hedgehog.

Sonic Forces was covered on The D-Pad before its release in an episode of The D-Pad Reacts focusing on its announcement trailer, released on July 26, 2016. The Nintendo Switch version of the game was then played in full upon its release, as the forty-sixth game in The Super Sonic Let's Play. The LP consisted of 17 episodes; 16 covering the main story, and a bonus episode covering Episode Shadow, released on weekdays from November 8 to December 25, 2017.
