An early 1991 prototype build of Sonic the Hedgehog, a 1991 platform game developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega for the Sega Genesis, was released online by Hidden Palace and The Cutting Room Floor on December 31, 2020. It showcases Sonic the Hedgehog in an earlier, incomplete stage of development, with several mechanics present that were removed from the final game, many stages unfinished or missing entirely, and many other minor differences. The game was played on The D-Pad in 2021, as the seventy-first game in The Super Sonic Let's Play. The LP consisted of 3 episodes, released on weekdays from January 12 to January 14, 2021.
