Tails' Skypatrol is a 1995 shoot 'em up game developed by Japan System House and SIMS and published by Sega for the Game Gear. It is a spin-off in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, and one of only a few games to focus entirely on Tails. The player controls Tails as he flies through five horizontally scrolling stages in an attempt to stop the evil witch Witchcart, who is attempting to conquer an island and turn its inhabitants into crystals. Tails has a gold ring which he can throw at enemies as a weapon. The game was played on The D-Pad in 2017, preceded by a brief LP of Waku Waku Sonic Patrol Car, a 1991 arcade ride game featuring Sonic as a police officer patrolling a city to keep it safe from Dr. Robotnik, as the twenty-fourth and twenty-fifth games in The Super Sonic Let's Play. The LP consisted of 3 episodes, released on weekdays from January 26 to January 28, 2017.

The game was revisited on The D-Pad in a one-off episode by Rick in 2022, as the tenth game in Sonic Weekathon II. The episode was streamed live on the dpadfm Twitch account before being uploaded to YouTube on July 2, 2022.

Trivia

  • The Tails' Skypatrol LP is the only LP in The Super Sonic Let's Play to feature a live-action outro, due to the game's significance to the channel's metaplot.
